This sounds very promising for HIV+ people and it also looks good as a possible preventative too

Bit early yet to say that it's a cure. It's a possible strategy for finding a cure, yes. Going from DNA to protein to drug or a vaccine is a long and complicated process, which hasn't in fact been very successful yet. Still, should be easier with a virus, might be interesting.
