Detox Spas

Post by Aliya » 3rd Mar, '08, 15:30

A friend and I want to take some time off in May and go for a week to a Spa for a very healthy week to really detox. We are not talking about a nice spa, we are taking about a full on detox place. Anyone have any recommendations?
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

Very funny! Not. Slap!

I dont want to use a hose, I want to live off rabbit food and have tough massages and come back glowing and 10 pounds lighter and gorgiss.

I think the idea of a detox is to feel like utter shit, but by using the no pain no gain principle you can convince yourself that it is doing you good

That would be the expensive no pain no gain principle?

Unfortunately I can't give any advice, except that the stay at home thing is not necessarily a bad one for detoxing. I'm on day 13 of my fast - my skin is improving greatly, I've lost weight, I feel pretty well and I have a massage scheduled for Saturday! And I get to spend some real vacation time on Hawaii instead of in a detox place where I'd probably get depressed.

I'm not sure about detox.
But I do I want to go on one of those places that forces you to do exercise everyday with trainers, and have good vegetable, salad and protein meals. I know how to do all that in my head but struggling with discipline and will power to get going - think a bit of forced activity like that for a week would get me over my little hump of getting started. Sort of like a live in bootcamp (but nice with a good shower and not in tents!) (PS anyone know anything like that in ausland that isn't heaps and heaps of thousands dollars - there's something nice up outside Sydney, but it was like >$3,000)(PPS this is it Aliya if you were flying through Aus, but looks more luxury than scary http://www.goldendoor.com.au/default.as ... gory&ID=21)

Now that sounds like a good idea. Can you get one with wine too? (Oh, and babysitters I suppose  )

A friend of mine went on a detox week and ended up in a coma followed by complete memory and speech loss due to Hyponatremia. It's a severe salt deficiency that affects brain function, so beware of any of these intense detox programmes, they can be dangerous. My friend now has permanent memory loss problems.

there's plenty of information out there that shows that extreeme anything is bad bad bad for you, unless under doctor supervision addressing an actually extreeme condition.

Chivasom is excellent friends swear by it but quite $$$. Will look at it again though. I just want a sort of bootcamp, good cleansing food with a bit of fasting (I can do that bit at home of course), yoga, meditation, massages, just an overall Aliya pampering glowing skin regime. AND I need a holiday!!! JJ the star has sent me some fab information will look into it. A friend from China is doing it with me.
