Vaccinations for South-East Asia

Post by Dinosaur » 16th May, '09, 12:36

Can anyone recommend a website that gives good advice re vaccinations required in South-East Asia. I'm thinking primarily where I'm based and surrounding countries i.e. Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore? Or if anyone medical on here can give me their thoughts. Not planning any jungle treks, anything like that, just built up areas.

We're just reviewing our jabs at the moment. So many websites say you do not need any vaccinations here - bit dubious about that - and yet others (NHS in the UK) recommending all sorts of bloody things. Got Polio, Tetanus, Typhoid jabs. Let the Hep A one slip - advised by a Singapore quack not to bother, though I've heard several people on Thai forums recommending the full quota of Heps A, B and possibly C. Any thoughts?

You need to speak to a GP.

When I spoke to a GP about the sort of travel I did, and the fact the GP was sponsored by work to give me jabs which were made by work, then I got the whole lot.

There will always be conflicting advice. Same as malaria. Do you prevent infection (anti-big spray) or do you go for the drugs? Up to you. you gotta make the choice. It's your body

The CDC Website might have what you're after. Choose the country you're interested in from the dropdown box.

And according to CDC, also no vaccines for HepC (or D or E....I didn't know there were 5 in total!) Anf the treatment is only 50% effective in clearing the virus (according to NHS website)
