What is your favourite Bakery food?

Post by Aliya » 29th Oct, '09, 14:49

If you had a choice what would be your favourite food to buy from a bakery??

What sort of things are your favourites that you might not be able to get in Singapore that you wish you could?

"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

Opening a bakery shop perhaps

Simple answer is good wholesome bread without a million different kinds of crap ingredient added. I also like bread to be a bit more solid and not as sweet as local tastes demand. If you are selling to locals though, you need to cater for their taste.

Cedele is about the only place here that seems to sell decent bread

I read something the otherday that said you should try and buy bread with less than 5 ingredients listed. I went to Cold Storage and looked at some of the Gardenia type bread and there are about 25 things in it!

Seriously ? I've learnt that carbs, especially processed carbs, are not good for you. I avoid bakeries where ever possible.

Sadly all too true. My only source of carbs these days is Oatmeal in the morning. It's done wonders for my abs - but God do I miss the taste and aroma of freshly baked, crusty bread...

Not sure if its what you want to hear, but I'm not really bothered. I do like pastries & breads, but I don't go out of my way to find particular ones. On the positive side, I don't actually live in Singapore, and I know lots of people in Singapore who took their breads very seriously!

Mince and Cheese pies, sallylungs, real donuts (not those stupid round things), lolly cake, lamingtons, decent bread....but it would all have to be exceptionally good for me to go to far out of my way... deliver can lah?

Mr Sate used to go to Freshly Baked at Killney road. They used to make very good grilled chicken but hey took that off the menu.

Their breads are good but I think (and so does the in-laws) that they should learn to slice it thinner...

Their salty crunchy chocolate dessert is good too.
I normally have seasonal cravings for either sweet or savoury things so particular things changes . But if I had to name one item then EGG MAYO! YUM

A fresh farmhouse loaf sliced one inch thick and toasted, with either strawberry jam or peanut butter.
