We ate at Red Rooster, aka Rockin' Robin. Why? Cause we missed a meal and desperately needed to eat on the way home from the beach, and there wasn't anything available in the long drive through the National Park so we went to the first place we spotted after getting back into civilisation.

In a vague attempt to be healthy I had the mediterranean seared chicken. It was [smilie=barfluous.gif]

edit: When I say civilisation, I use the term loosely.

And today was the first time I've seen a man on the beach smoking a hookah. It was a very multicultural experience.

Some questions for you Canuck: (these are from Mr. S)

1) Where is it located?
2) Do they have the big ass salad bar?
3) Do they have a grilled chicken breast sandwich?

Wendy's just pulled out of Japan, but I see we now have 2 Dominos Pizza in Singapore. Not the best stuff in the world but sometimes a good quick fix.

Sadly, I can remember when there was both Wendy's & Hardee's here the first time. Hardee's was an elevated open air seating extension on the front of the International Building beside the Shaw Centre. Think it closed down around 91 or 92.

I always wondered why there was TGIF in Malaysia but not Singapore. Not that I wanted there to be one, but I thought their food/attitude would do well with western-mad youngsters there. Can't quite see the staff having the same, annoying, OTT personalities as they do elsewhere though.

So 3 days in Sg in July - Wendy's, Chilis, TGIF?

Wendys is my favourite (i.e. least hated) "chain" burger.

Yeah, while their burgers weren't too bad, I kinda liked their chili for a commercial mass marketed product. Wasn't too bad.

There is also an Applebees coming - over near that youth park where there is a Botak Jones, I think (Sorry, my mind is blank and I can't think of what road that is - I know it's Penang Road farther up by The Dubliner, but I think the name changes). TGIF is at the Hereen - not sure if it's open yet though. We've eaten at Chilis a few times. I've always gotten one of the chicken salads & I think they're good.

Wendy's at Lau Pa Sat, huh? I don't know, if I make a trip out to La Pau Sat, I'm getting satay, not Wendy's! (But I might get a frosty :D )

Applebee's, TGIF Friday's, Chili's - all they need now is a Cracker Barrel? Who knows though - I recall TGIF Friday's in Tokyo as being a somewhat happening place with a busy bar.

ARBY'S is what we need. The only "fast food" place worth a damn in the US that I've ever seen. Wendy's without the salad bar is just another burger place.

We went to Chillis a while ago. Scummy Daddy's food was bland so he asked for some Chillies to be told they didn't have any.

They didn't seem to see the irony.....

That brings back memories. There was a Hardees at the end of my road when I lived in Riyadh. Lunch was often a Hardees Mushroom n Swiss burger and a bag of chips. Very yummy, with a nutritional value of virtually zero.

I don't know about today's Arby's but back when I was resident in the US many moons ago, it was also my fast food joint of choice. Both the roast beef and the pastrami ones! Don't know what they are like today as that was almost 30 years ago! :o

Was at the Chili's in Tanglin Mall, not bad, for what it is. Attentive staff.

I'm sure we'll try them all and not go back for a long time once the novelty wears off. They're not on the diet plan to begin with....

Having said that, still comparing them all for the best Apple Cinnamon Crumb whatever dessert. I think it was either Hard Rock or Tony Roma's, will have to go back I guess. Slightly better than Brewerkz's.

Agree, these are sinful and empty calories.
