Where to stay in Byron Bay?
I know some of you will know.
I was googling "detox" but it kept coming up with addiction places. Bit more luck with "health retreat" but personal recommendations would be good.
Doesn't really have to be a serious retreat type place, just want to get away from it all, but a decent spa would be lovely.

Strangely, a hostel was not quite what I had in mind.

Swedes are nice, all you need is a good recipe...canuck wrote:Only stayed in hostel with three giant swedes, cannot recommend it
Creamed Swede
serves 6
Ingredients:
- 2 lb (900 g) swede (rutabagas), peeled and cut into small pieces
- salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 stick (4 Tbsp) 2 oz (50 g) butter
- chopped fresh parsley to garnish
- Put the swede into a large pan, cover with cold salted water and bring to the boil. Cover the pan and boil gently for about 40 minutes, until quite tender. Drain well in a colander.
- Return to the pan. Mash the swede, add the butter and seasoning and cook over a high heat, stirring frequently to drive off all excess moisture.
- When a dry, stiffish puree is formed, adjust seasoning and spoon into a serving dish. Garnish with parsley.

Re: Where to stay in Byron Bay?
Since when did anyone need a recipe for mashed TURNIP?
Thanks for all your help, folks. Much appreciated.
(It will be your fault if Neo has to empty his piggybank to take me to The Byron at Byron.)

OK...
Avoid the Beachcomber, my experience was that it was full of boozy bogan families with noisy kids.
A quick poll here at work indicates that:

A quick poll here at work indicates that:
- the Byron is nice but expensive;
- there's a Buree (sp) place which is apparently nice, and close to a day spa place which is also nice;
- there's one called the Villa (or something like that) which is good, with day spa nearby
- Koonyam Retreat is nice and quiet.
