How can you save money by travelling? It's always going to be cheaper to stay at home. (OK if you homeless in London, it is probably cheaper to live in a Rio slum)

That's what I was thinking......(ok, maybe not the homeless in London vs. Rio part, but anyway...)

I really cannot wait for what is surely going to be the most phenomenal tips and advice on how to actually save money traveling -- will it be KOD who posts it or some other new forum member?? Oh, the anticipation!

slinks ;)

So in all good faith...it depends on the type of trip but, if you discount the flights and accommodation costs, I am definitely living more cheaply right now than I would be at home, and that's even with paying for hotel food rather than street food.

edit: but then I live in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Or are you talking about which ways we get an extra few % off the price by going to a different website, use of cards etc?

And why would you want that information? Are you going to spam us with some ideas and websites of your own?

If am travelling on vacation then I certainly don't save money....otherwise If am travelling for official purpose I don't need to worry about the money as my expenses are reimbursed...!
