La Vie en Rose
Superb in every respect. Cotillard was phenomenal.
But God, it's not one to choose if you're feeling a bit down. If you put together a list of every form of abuse you can think of, you should be able to tick them all off by the time you're about a third of the way through.

Re: La Vie en Rose
Is it just me or does Marion Cotillard look like Madonna's cousin ?
So…if you wish to wish a wish, you may swish for fish with my Ish wish dish.
Re: La Vie en Rose
haven't seen it. was put of by Margaret and David's review on the Movie Show, they said it was a bit all over the place. what did you think crom?
saw Atonement the other day, that was really good even though I don't like Kiera Knightly to watch, similarly though - not one to see if you want a cheer up!

Just out of curiousity, what is it that people don't like about Keira Knightly? I've heard it from a few different people lately & have wondered.
Re: La Vie en Rose
bit hard to put the finger on what dont like.
superficially I don't like the way she talks - it's always the same slightly whiney tone and accent and inflection.
guess best way is to give an example of another actor. I don't particularly like Tom Hanks for some reason and don't like much of his stuff. BUT in Charlie Wilsons War I was able to completely forget who he was and it struck me then he really is a good actor . Same with Julia Roberts - she was excellent in that I just forgot it was Julia, even with her super high profile (and that a few of her films are same same). Keira is alway Keira with the annoying way of speaking and mannerisms.

Re: La Vie en Rose
The narrative does jump back and forth, but I didn't find it difficult to keep track of. Oddly enough, I do see what you mean about Marion Cotillard and Madonna. I think it's the Evita thing, since it's the same general period - same pencil eyebrows etc.
I read an interview where Cotillard was talking about the hours and hours she had to spend in make up, and having seen the film, I can understand why. There's only one fairly small part of the film where she's even remotely recognisable. Also, whoever the girl was who played her as a child was brilliant.
For the nihilists among us: put on your black polo neck, light up a Gitane and wallow in the pseudo-intellectual despair that washes over you.
Now, what did I do with that DVD of 'Dude, Where's My Car?'..?
PS, as for Keira I don't mind her. She's a reasonable actress and she's awfully, awfully pretty to look at.

Bit concave-chested though (sounds like the kind of thing a man would say!)

Yeah it's wierd. Sometimes you think people are being sarcastic then you realise you're not on the Angry Board.
