P.S. I Love You
I went to see this movie without knowing what to expect, and I ended up bawling my eyes out throughout the movie. Quite embarassing, but I'm a girl so I'm allowed :p
It was the story that made the movie. When you have such a great story, everything else that was wrong with the movie was forgivable. Can't reveal more about the story because I don't want to spoil it for you.
That said, I think Hillary Swank was badly miscast. She came across as cold, selfish, annoying, and totally unlikeable. I think she is just wrong for the role, because I'm not sure she can do "lost and helpless". She is a great actress, very intense, and is perfect for roles that require her to be a strong, hard woman. The role of Holly in the movie needs the exact opposite of strong and hard.
Gerard Butler, on the other hand, was excellent as Gerry. Despite some critics' snarky comments about his badly-done "Irish" accent, his presence balanced out the movie. Charismatic, charming, funny, and brimming with sex appeal, he was the perfect antidote to Swank's unlikeability.
Those who have read the book (same title, by Irish writer Cecelia Ahern) should expect some deviation from the book. I have not read it, but I will pick it up later tonight
It's a total chick flick, not a "feelgood" one but definitely worth watching for the unique story. Oh, and for Gerard Butler and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Denny Duquette in Grey's Anatomy season 2, Lizzie's Denny

"Well, there's a film I can cross off my list without having to see", he said testeronely.
...is there such a word as "testeronely"? I assume it means "full of testerone" and not just "talking b*llox"...

Or, a particularly studious pupil who is also a twonk (refer Only Fools and Horses for definition of 'twonk')

Sorry, nev, enjoyed the book but thought the movie was pretty lame. Didn't cry once. Glad I didn't pay good money to see it (well apart from the cost of the flight).
