The Master

This is a strange one - 2.5 hours long with not much of a plot, it's allegedly (loosely) based on the Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

An alcoholic sailor played by Joaquin Phoenix is invalided out of the Navy and comes across the Hubbard character who tries to control and convert him to The Cause. And that pretty much is the plot! Great performances from Hoffman, Amy Adams and Phoenix who is just terrific.

I really enjoyed it but also know others who loathed it and left the cinema before the end!

If you're looking for additional film entertainment Daff, was reading articles on Lee Miller this evening, and separately on Nuremburg Trial. A good reminder about classic films worth catching up on.

Tried watching it last night on the flight and fell asleep within 1/2 hour... found it quite borning... maybe it was the 4" qantas screen that sapped any mood for watching it
