Pacific Rim

OK, so you have to take your brain out, not worry about the story line (or the two horrendous Aussie accents) but watch it for the sheer joy of mecha vs kaiju (that's giant robot types vs giant monsters to the uninitiated) action.

I think the critic guy from the Sydney Morning Herald wrote something like 120 minutes of action/fight sequences and 10 minutes of story...and he isn't too far wrong, but who cares...it was a really fun ride...go see it on a big screen.

Still can't get the grin off my face. :D :D :D :D

There some movies that are just supposed to be like this, and I still enjoy em. Had piqued my interest previously then forgot, thanks for reminder PP

It's one of those movies that I'm glad someone went before me. Watched the trailer yesterday to see if I would go see it, was on the fence.

Bag of shite.

Poor acting.
Horrendous accents (not just Aussie ones)
Why on earth did the two science types get portrayed like that?
Poor crap storyline.
Fight scenes were average at best.

Transformers did a better job, so did Battleship, this was just pants.

Luckily I only wasted two hours on this.

He's actually the Brit with the awful American accent :D

Saw this recently, liked it. It's MUCH bigger Transformers vs humongous kaijus. I was actually thinking one of the small kaijus would have crushed Megatron like a bug

I really liked that the lead female character didn't have to have a romantic entanglement to shine.

You mean in SofA? Yeah, well he does a better Amercian accent in that than he does an Aussie one in Pacific Rim. LOL

(actually his "natural" talking voice is really mixed up isn't it?)

FB, it was nowhere near as bad as you say...I did tell you to ignore the er, storyline/plot. ;)

You're obviously not joking. Which astounds me!

Oh, well, each to their own!

Its still embarrassing, but I liked Battleship. Still want to see the special effects on the Pacific Rim one though...wonder if there is a short composition of the best stuff without what sounds like really bad acting..

Was he attempting an Aussie accent in PacRim? I thought he was trying to sound American  I guess that just goes to show how bad it was

Wait, we're talking about Charlie Hunnam, right? There was another Brit in the movie, Rob Kazinsky, he was playing an Aussie and his accent was gawdawful :o

No you're right...those accents were all so bad (let's not even go near the Russian ones) that I got confused.

After about 45 minutes I couldn't sit through any more of it. Possibly one of the most idiotic and mind numbing movies ever made. There is just no logic in the movie.. none at all!

Now Battleship on the other hand I enjoyed.
