New places for food

Post by canuck » 4th Oct, '12, 18:20

at the new Star Mall the epitome of all that is Singapore, you can pray for more of everything, then spend it before you get it.

tried
Senior taco.. it was ok, will go back for mole (pronounced Mol-eh) not moles
Boston Seafood shack - Lobster roll - quite nice but $15 a pop is a bit steep and they are slow.. 12-15 min to make it - will go back for fish & chips
All fries with various mayonnaise concoctions to increase your waist size. wasabi mayo was our choice, but there is like 12 or so.

untried
There is also a vietnamese Rice roll place - yet to try
New Sushi joint - yet to try
Jamaica coffee house - good coffee, not tried the food, but they look good
also vairous japanese restaurants and some place called the kitchen and some spaghetti place

Is that the new big place that looks aesthetically like a good idea that somehow went wrong over by the Buona Vista MRT? Señor Taco is actually owned by a guy we know from Mexico and at least started out as pretty authentic Mexican food. When I've gone to other locations, it's overall pretty decent.

There is supposed to be a Brotzeit in that place too - true?

I'm just happy to have a place we can easily bike to and get food :D

Tiong Bahru Bakery by Gontran Cherrier. Best breads, croissants, kouign amann in Singapore. On par with SF's Tartine. The lemon tart is also the best I've tasted anywhere.
56 Eng Hoon Street, or Raffles City.

Tried out the Boston Seafood Shack yesterday. For some reason, they couldn't do the 'lobstah roll' at lunchtime (?) so I had the shrimp roll instead - pretty good. Salmon burgers also good, according to little Miss Slink & Mr. S, and litle boy Slink liked the fish & chips. Will definitely go back to try other stuff there and for Señor Taco and Brotzeit because it is so close and convenient. That will probably prove to be a handy place in general, I'm guessing.

A little cafe called Swiss Backers in Frankel Avenue. The breakfast menu is superb and the genuine, monster pork sausages are excellent.

Had dinner at Open Door Policy in Tiong Bahru last week, food was very good, bustling little place :

Edit : Not for intimate dining, the tables are very close to each other!
