http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-australia24.php

Basically east coast except Queensland are currently 3 hours ahead and will remain that way until March. Pretty sure the stats that do observe DST switch over at the same time in March and September

Perth is the same time zone as Singapore with no DST. Qld don't have DST due to cows getting confused. Adelaide is 30mins closer to Sing than AEST

You forgot to mention the fading curtain factor.

Exactly K, you will of course have noticed that there are no faded curtains over in the west. ;)

And can I just say, bloody mining boom. More people here in the Club lounge than out of it.

Thank you kindly for that link. It sure looks overcomplicated to me.

So... I've got a couple of friends in Melbourne. I know they are currently 3 hours ahead of me (we're same time as Sing). So which way does it go, back or forward, in March?

And my rellies in Cairns are only 2 hours ahead? (even though they seem to be further east than Melbourne :? )

And what's with Adelaide exactly? I mean.... why bother???

In March it will be a 2 hour difference

Correct

That's a question most Australian ask when Adelaide is mentioned.

Set up a couple of additional clocks on your laptop (bottom right of screen) - I have and I can just hover the pointer over them to quickly check what time it is where my sis and choc are.

Oh and remember it's Spring forward and Fall back, but we have our seasons the other way round so March is Fall, etc.

Thanks Kooky. It was the back/forward thing more than anything. Would have to set up too many clocks on the laptop LOL. The thing that was puzzling me over the holiday period was that one of my cousins phoned (from Cairns area) and we worked out he is 2 hours ahead. That really confused me as one of my best friends, who lives part of the year in Melbourne, said she was 3 hours ahead. Didn't seem right somehow. OK I got it now** - thanks all.

**with exception of Adelaide :?

On your ipod Touch, if you go to the clock function, then tap world clocks, you can add different cities.

(Assuming I recall correctly and you bought an ipod touch.....)

Thanks Scrummy. I've got some times on there, including Melbourne, and had forgotten about that function  Thanks for reminding. Must remember to add Cairns on there. Presumably the Pod will know when clocks go back/forward.
