No more NOTW

One of the UK's forefront chequebook journalism rags bites the dust. To be replaced by a version of The Sun, another quality Murdoch "dodgy... who me?" paper!

One of my Facebook friends was promoting the page set up to Boycott the NOTW. Seemed a bit pointless to somebody that's never bought a copy

i see it as an attempt by Murdoch cs to cover up as much as possible the sordid affair that has caused all this. read that they also have been caught trying to erase files at an Indian service centre used by the group.

have to admire Hugh Grant for tirelessly pursuing the whole cell phone hacking thing.

It was pretty sick tapping into those little murdered girls phones. The list of people that were going about their normal days and had terrible things happen to them, not seeking tabloid attention, and the journalists were twisted enough to think it was their right to impinge even further on their grief.

Not only has Brooks resigned and subesquently been arrested but the UK's most senior police officer Sir Paul Stephenson, has gone too.

What's the PStephenson story, not caught that one yet. The Reuters article was saying it was stinky because of the timing around her appearance before parliament - but they didn't mention other chap

Stephenson is the head of the Met Police. The Met are the police force who f#cked up the initial investigation, from which certain allegations of police curruption at the higher levels have come out. After the initial investigation, Stephenson employed ex NOTW executive, Neil Wallis. Stephenson also took a GBP12k 20-day spa vacation/recuperation free of charge from a company that also employed Neil Wallis.

There are still concerns on how many of the NOTW execs and editors have, since the inital investigation, been employed by various UK Government ministers. David Cameron (PM) and Theresa May (Home Secretary) are both having allegations thrown at them. Some fo those allegations are coming from those that have resigned because of their involvement, e.g. Stephenson has thrown a bit at the current Government, so you don't know if it's because of real truths or just trying to deflect criticism of himself.

It's going to last for a while this one is. LAst year the Telegraph scooped the MP's expenses, this year the Guardian have scooped the NOTW telephone hacking. I wonder how much (more) News International will be hit by this? The Sun, Times, several US papers and TV channels, 40ish% of Sky....it's going to be interesting indeed!

Murdoch whistleblower dead.

"Everyone was doing it," Hoare told the US paper. "Everybody got a bit carried away with this power that they had. No one came close to catching us."
Police said the death was being treated as unexplained but was not considered suspicious.

Not if you spend five minutes reading even his friends' account of his lifestyle, no.

Very sad though.

Murdoch's wife has an impressive right hook though. Reckon she could take Prescott any day.

good reaction speed, too. number one son was still in the process of letting his jaw drop to the floor when his step-mum was ready to land the second one.

The Murdochs' provided a fascinating piece of reality tv, though my first thought was where's the Aged Care people? ;) Inevitably, no-one is any wiser as to who knew / did what / when than before the sessions.

When Rupe decides it's slippers and cocoa time, Wendy would make a formidable CEO and certainly save on the expense of body guards.... :D

I can't easily find at the mo Daff, but did you see the article in SMH on Inside Brookes office. The description of how budget was controlled was pretty damning.

So Rupe is back ducking and weaving at the Leveson inquiry, though after watching some of it on the news last night, he's definitely dumped the old dithering gent persona from the previous session! No foam pies thus far either....
