Muslims - Happy New Year

Post by Fat Bob » 7th Dec, '10, 08:58

It's the Islamic New Year today, unsure how all this works, but hey, why aren't we having a day off to celebrate?

Thanks. I didnt' know that and I am in Abu Dhabi!!!!! Ramadan was awful here too. It was teh worst Ramadan I ever had in my life. (Even ramadan in UK for 3 years was a million times better.) So was the Haj. No spirit whatsoever. Only a bit of hoo ha for their national day.

Everything is so caged up I can't stand it. Parks, villas, all fenced up with concrete. Everything fenced up with concrete. Villas with no gardens... (understandable now as the grass just doesnt grow in the heat with no rain), Apartments with few windows and have to turn on the a/c or you get condensation on the floors. PEople live in a/c here and drive everywhere, even down the next block. Can't wait to go home.

All I can say is that this place makes dark, gloomy UK seem like heaven.
