Stuff we like. Established members only please

Post by cromasaig » 1st Feb, '11, 16:49

I was just browsing through a couple of sites that I've found recently that look good for present ideas and it occurred to me that X and Y might like them. Lili's shared an art site recently that I found interesting too. I'm sure you all have equivalent bookmarks.

So (unless we already have one that I've missed), I wondered if we could have a thread where we can post our favourite - particularly niche - sites that others might not have come across. Of course it may have to be policed heavily - what do you think?

I'm kicking it off with a couple of sites that sell stuff from small independent designers/producers. I haven't checked shipping facilities though.

WOW! This is brilliant. Well done, MIT. Thanks for sharing that, M.

Relatedly, for those who don't have religious objections, have a look at iTunesU (in iTunes). All sorts of interesting free stuff

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. Groucho Marx

Talk to LVS. She's got a friend (in Singapore) who makes lovely hand-made leather bags, cases etc. I've seen some of. Lovely stuff.

I don't know, shoes are a rarity in this office

Vegan teamie always wears canvas; veggie manager wears trainers or some non-leather docs. Lots of rubber thongs around.

My handbag has finally completely broken and I'm really lusting after one of these from Saddleback Leather - Canuck's recommendation. I'm thinking small, dark coffee brown.

So, so expensive. So, thoughts?

Erm, you do know you're not in TLC?

Very nice. Can you try one to see how it feels? I often like bags then find the straps slide off my shoulder.

Nice price too, but then I'm a cheapskate; my £3 eBay back is currently being repaired so I'm carrying a $10 K Mart one!

Did you see the bit about what colour to pick to suit your personality? Seemed pretty close to me!
