Alien Invasion to save the US Economy

Post by Mr Oz » 15th Aug, '11, 10:22

Just got back from the US and I was astounded by the number of Alien Stories on the History Channel. Like wall to wall Aliens. Aliens in History, Aliens in Mexico, UFO's this and that. OMFG it was insane.

Anyway today I was sent a couple of links.

Talk about a special on Discovery channel for an Alien Invasion… That’s MSNBC!

Near the end they talk about faking an alien invasion to save the US… That’s CNN!

OMG! The aliens are coming! The aliens are coming!

oh yeah it's getting better.
It may not rank as the most compelling reason to curb greenhouse gases, but reducing our emissions might just save humanity from a pre-emptive alien attack, scientists claim.

Oh yeah the MSM are setting us up for this "Alien Invasion" ... [smilie=rotflmao.gif]

Paul Krugman mentioned it the other day in saying what the planet needed to get the economy back on track - you know the ironic part is that we have something almost as dire waiting and we ignore it or deny it. Use the planetary change looming - sure people can deny climate change and say its the planet or jesus getting ready to cum again - but what isnt questionable is a planet of 7billion people using the planets resources at a rate that makes the planet unable to cope as is... be it fresh water supplies, fish, arable land. These issues will come to bare and when the planet has a few billion more people, it will fall off the edge and force humanity to payback this overuse. This doesnt mean that humans will not survive but that the change will be fundamental... So how about using some WWII type measures and get focused on making decisions. Of course no one could expect Obama to do that - I am not sure if he even has the decisiveness to choose a tie on a given day. The US needs a Roosevelt to lead rather than build consensus with people who think his an asshole.

and of course, it's all blown out of any proportion, as it was not written by 'NASA' but buy a couple of friends one of whom works with NASA...
one of the authors of the paper, Shawn Domagal-Goldman, happens to be a postdoctoral student working at NASA Headquarters — and that highly tenuous connection to the world's most influential space agency sparked a huge wave of scare headlines.
seriously, Mr Oz? the Serious discussion forum?

When it comes to aliens, I'm with Michio Kaku. It is highly probable that we are not alone in this universe, however, we've seen how far we can go using fossil fuels, which are really the most primitive forms of energy available - we haven't really advanced beyond cavemen in that regard. The kind of space travel that can bring us close to another living world would require us to learn how to generate massive amounts of energy and learn how to traverse unimaginably long distances, which means we would have had to advance enough to really get a grip on the possibilities presented by physics. By the time a civilization can do that, they will have solved not only their energy problems, but also food scarcity problems (aliens will not come here looking for resources or food), and national, religious division would have become irrelevant.

If aliens are observing us, they think we are cavemen and are probably not interested. :D

So you're pretty much on the Star Trek time line then, Lili.

Bah! Star Trek is child's play. They traveled around in real time like some hippie road trip. They should have wrinkled.

in the case of space travel it is more the limitations presented by physics...
