Just read a thread on the EB which was about expats in Singapore and I suddenly thought - if this was a British colony originally then when did Brits become expats? Until Sing stopped being British then they were not expats and it was the incoming Chinese who were the expats.... So suddenly when Singapore got independence the reverse occured - that the local born people became Singaporans and the Brits suddenly became the expats. Although lots of them were born here so how could they become expats?
I know there are lots of holes to poke in this argument, just got wobbles from the vodka soaked tampon thread ....eeeeeee

"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"
