New taxi twist

Post by Fat Bob » 25th Feb, '08, 23:37

OK, so cabbies are now more hungry for the fare. but standing outside Raffles you wouldn't have though so. About 10 cabs refused fare to Clementi and Sixth Ave before we found ones that would. Previously they would have just hid, now they drive around with the little red plastic signs saying "River Valley" or "Boat Quay".

So they are waiting for that midnight surcharge yet again.....thought they'd work around it eventually!

Sure it wasn't shift change at 5-6pm? They've always done that. Cab driver only takes fares on the way home from work.

Nope, it was 11:04pm outside Raffles. Either that or there's another shift change at 11pm and cabbies are doing much better with houses now in Clarke Quay/Boat Quay/River Valley....all central area. La-di-dah for them, no more tips methinks!

Sounds like a great letter to the Straits Times Fb. You'd be the first to report it. Next they'll have spot checks, implement new surcharges, fine a few cabbies and eventually completely overhaul the pricing system again. Then it starts all over again with canuck having a rant....

Wonder what those people at ST are doing now we've all moved shop? Bet they've gone nutty not being able to go into the old place and canvas the "expat opinion" or even nick our stories (and misquote the website....which may have been a blessing in disguise!)

Couldnt get a taxi to the airport this morning at 6.45am. In the end had to drive. Very pissed off to drive around alot of taxis waiting to get into airport for pickups. Before that happened usually only at night. Never ever not been able to get a taxi before EVER no matter what the weather...
