You looking to buy a real piano or one of those keybords that sound just like a real piano (and are much smaller, btw)? Best had some of the keyboards last time I was in there, but I don't remember what they cost, sorry.

We have a keyboard and Epy boy has been using that but now he is sitting for grade 1 the teacher insists that he needs "real" piano .

Wouldn't it be cheaper to change teachers ?

In that case, I'd look into buying a used one somehow. Maybe there are some listed on Ebay Singapore? Not sure if I've seen any posted on boards at places like Tanglin or Jelita or the American Club, but I can keep an eye out at the American Club at least if you want.

I'll keep an eye out at the Singapore Island Country Club and Sentosa Golf & Country Club the next time I am there.

EPY, get a digital piano with weighted wooden keys, and EPYB will have no problem mastering 'real' piano fingering and volume/tone control.

yahama digital pianos and keyboards are pretty good. i'm sure you can get a decent 2nd hand one for much less than the commonly-available korean upright pianos, which have horrid construction and would wreck your fingering skills.
