Huge storm in Sydney

Post by Kooky » 19th Feb, '12, 21:12

Massive storm here tonight, tons of thunder and lightening, windy and then driving rain.

Can you guess what happened next?

I'm beyond crying. Really I am.

It was a pretty big storm. The GBF said he saw people trapped in their cars on his way home from dinner near us - the first part of this video was shot very close by.

Oh no, not again K. I hope it wasn't much of a leak was it?

That reporter sounded just SOOO boring! Who would want to watch a video clip like that? People complain about Singapore's standard of reporting...that was shite!

Bob, the DT is basically our Sun, and you should have heard one of their reporters harassing George Michael and his BF the other day, asking him how he is - George said, erm, I nearly died, don't you read the papers? - and was he looking forward to his concert here soon - to which George said, erm, it's been postponed, I nearly died???).

PP, the leak traced right round the new plasterboard on the ceiling, and also came through 3 corners of the nearby window. The latter is quite an accomplishment as, prior to it being "fixed", it was only coming through one.

Jeez Louise, you're back to square one. How unbelievably awful. What's your plan now?

Oh, not good. Perhaps better now than when it is all "finished"? Heavy rain or not it shouldn't be leaking again, anyone else in the same boat? I hope you get it sorted soon.

FB...my thoughts exactly, what a shocker that guy was. It was embarrassing to listen to. Perhaps he should stick to written journalism.

Calls had with engineers who certified the work and new Strata Manager, expecting engineer later today. Of course the engineers are confident their work is sound and it's a new problem.

I know some other units still have remedial work going on but AFAIK they have a common problem and we are special. :)

I might be a bit more angry if I'd had more than 4 hours sleep, that was on the sofa in an effort to keep a constantly crying cat happy and let Neo get some much-needed sleep (after 3 full days at uni and before a busy week at work in 3 different states). As it is, I just want the engineers to come and to go so I can have a nana nap.

In a previous life I must have been a very bad girl, because in this one I think I'm quite nice, TBH, and I still get all this shit.

So far - it was absolutely beautiful this morning, clouding over now, and we have another evening storm predicted. Much like yesterday.

So... we had more remedial work done in October, and flood tests done in November, and it was all announced to be fixed [smilie=rotflmao.gif] ceiling at least, still waiting for work on the flashing round the window.

The east coast of Oz is currently experiencing huge storms. People in QLD are in a lot worse situation, and parts of NSW too (or about to be) but fucking hell, what do we have to do to get this fixed? [smilie=23_3.gif]

Currently can't keep up with the water, it's not a drip it's a power shower, and as usual it's spread right round the edge of the plasterboard but this time more so - it's now reached the edges of that ceiling and and coming through in two corners too, by the walls. An area of two tarps and numerous tubs and the corners are difficult to get anything under.

Emergency Maintenance has just advised Neo to go to Bunnings for more tubs. I think I'll drink.

(It's actually a good thing it's a public holiday and we're home, otherwise bye bye bamboo floor. Possibly still bye bye bamboo floor.)

The law is the place to go to now. Someone has to be responsible for it being in a shit state to begin with and then not fixing it. I know you may not want to, but you've got to put you and your properties interests in front of your condo's interests.

Been there, done that, got the huge bill, Bob. Over a year ago, strata law experts, basically said there is not a lot we can do unless we want to go for compensation, and that will incur bigger bills. We just want it fixing. Don't know where we turn next.

You know, I've got the news on and three people so far dead in QLD floods, 2000 homes swamped in Bundaberg, 2000 people cut off in NSW, 140km/h winds coming our way, and so on. I'm just having a rant, and now I should shut up.

A first cousin just moved into newly purchased house in Bundaberg last week. Posted a few pics of the SES removing the neighbours pagola from their (neighbours)roof. She posted another pic of a poor little fishy swimming along her driveway :).
Lost count of ambulance noise tonight, think might be a busy night in emergency at North Shore, guess might be getting a couple middle of the night helicoptor at this rate, presuming can fly the winds.
At least this aint the Philippines, and our services and "some" building codes in place so in better shape than many countries to cope with bit of rain and wind.
