Much like our beloved Nigel, the sewing circle is no longer in action. The Singapore Forum will be kept up so the wealth of information collected over the years can still be found and used, but there won't be anything new.

Thanks to everyone that made The Singapore Forum, in all it's guises, a fun, informative and comfortable place to hang out while dodging work.

A finite resource...where does he think it is coming from? LOL Mind you there is talk that it is affecting the temperature in the surrounding areas.

Sounds like the Chairman of the House-Senate Energy Conference Committee isn't qualified to turn on the lights in the conference hall.
A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

So wiki lists this, but the source link is now dead

Wind energy controversy[edit]
In June 2010, Barton has questioned the wisdom of deficit spending to fund an extensive national wind turbine energy generation grid. He said, "Wind is God’s way of balancing heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it’s hotter to areas where it’s cooler. That’s what wind is. Wouldn’t it be ironic if in the interest of global warming we mandated massive switches to energy, which is a finite resource, which slows the winds down, which causes the temperature to go up? Now, I’m not saying that’s going to happen, Mr. Chairman, but that is definitely something on the massive scale. I mean, it does make some sense. You stop something, you can’t transfer that heat, and the heat goes up. It’s just something to think about." [43]

Well we could do with a little less wind down here at the moment, what is going on? Just a bit sick of these mega windy days of late, today is no exception. It is nice to get the washing dry, but not if it gets blown away in the process.
