Well FB we're all retirees (albeit early retired in my case) but, believe me, wrinkles and nakedness do not go hand in hand.

You'd get an awful lot of white bits.

I don't have a problem with smokers who enjoy a smoke, and I'm a drinker who enjoys a drink - and maybe in either case it'll kill you and maybe it won't, but it's just that smoking is so invasive for others.

For baloo, it was simply a case of politeness on our part, we invited them over and, to a certain extent, I chose to suffer the smoke the most (their side of the pool-bar), don't like standing up drinking. This is a country where the segregation thing doesn't happen and our friends, although western expats, have lived in this country for something like 25 years including 19 years in Phuket so y'know they're almost "native". Hope that at least explains for you. It is not easy explaining Thailand if you haven't lived there. Can't really explain any better than that without resorting to a long essay which I haven't really got time for right now and would probably end up politically incorrect anyway - sorry.

I'm very impolite... even though I invite people over to my place, there is a strict rule of "NO SMOKING INDOORS". No one is spared... not my brother or uncles even. If they don't want to come over again, I'm most certainly not going to cry over it.

Nor I, but I have considered the Bill Clinton approach a few times.

I'm with you on this one. Especially with my relatives! I often wish the wouldn't come over anyway! They are usually wanting something if the do.

I have given up for a year and a half now.

When I stopped, the only promise I made was NOT to turn into a born-again health Nazi.

My friends are my friends whether they smoke or not. I don't give a monkey's if they smoke ouside and they don't mind if I choose not to accompany them.
