Another example of why the US is f*cked

Post by T2K » 13th Nov, '09, 08:47

Black professor punches white woman in the face and gives her a black eye over a discussion about "white privilege" and race relations. Is this another "teachable moment"? Will our President spout off about how the professor's action did was stupid? Why is this not in the news like when that other black prof got arrested? In the reverse situation you KNOW it would be front page.

This is indicative of PC rot in our society. It will get worse before it gets better.

Methink you doth protest too much.

I am not suggesting there are any circumstances when you should hit a woman, but she clearly is not the slightest bit interested in either pressing charges or taking the matter further, implying there is more to the story than meets the eye. The fact that it is a New York Post story suggests there could also be less to the story than meets the eye ...

My initial thought was that he probably swung at the guy and hit the woman accidentally.

As an aside, my suspicions about the story were hardly helped by reading this ...
He knocked the glasses right off my face," said the man, who would only give his first name as "Shannon."

He was charged and arraigned - she certainly is pressing charges and presumably will take the matter through to conclusion. I looked at some other sources before posting.

This would absolutely be national news in the US were the races reversed, no doubt about it.

Right, so in this case, it has been reported factually and with little PC nonsense. It is the alternative reverse scenario that is f*cked not this one.

My bad. Didn't read it properly.

At the same time, you have to appreciate significant differences between a drunken argument about race in a pub, and someone being arrested in their own home.

BoD - Correct. But this brings the situation into focus since it contrasts to the other so much.

FM - Maybe yes, maybe no. If he still has his job on Monday, then no. In the other case, a guy was geting aggro with the police which always equals arrest, but no one got hurt. In this case, people were having a conversation about race and a supposed role model escalated it to violence. If the races were reversed, the professor's career would be over, without a doubt. No questions asked, no explanation accepted.

You are probably quite right, but I am reserving judgment until I see how the NYT plays it. The Post is not exactly a shining beacon of good journalism...

Amazing. No mention that the guy was black and that the woman was white.

I was intrigued by the comment that he likes to visit the bar and engaged in race-based debates. I mean, freedom of speech and all that but sounds like a guy looking for an argument.

A firecracker looking for a match?

It's not surprising that the NYT would not mention the race of either party, but it will become important in op/ed pieces.
A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

The NYT article is symptomatic of the problem. A discussion about race between people of two different races leads to violence - how could they not report the races of the parties involved? See how a reputable paper cowers under the weight of the PC rot?

It will get worse before it gets better. But it will get better.

I have to agree the NYT has been cowardly in this case.

And I've just written to them to let them know.

Outraged of Clementi.

The US is 'fucked' because of cases like this?

Media and participants included, nobody's winning any prizes for judgement here. Still, I can't help feeling that segregation was just a little more fucked up, and apparently the US survived that.

Cromag - yeah, and slavery was worse than segregation. And both had to get worse before they got better.

Having an entire nation living in fear of PC bullshit is pervasively degeneratative. The elephant in the room is big and getting bigger and we're going to greater and greater lengths to blind ourselves to its presence and cover our noses to its piles of crap.
