Power Surge in Hub Port

Post by Kooky » 11th Dec, '08, 08:48

I've had this error message twice in the last couple of days. All I have plugged in is a mouse and that stops working.

I've switched from one port to the other and it's worked for a day or so but just happened again, so I've switched back.

Found this: http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/ ... Error.html

but not really sure what it tells me or what I should do. I have an IBM Thinkpad, maybe 3 or 4 years old - is it dying?

Uninstall and reinstall your usb drivers perhaps. Also check for dust or cobwebs in the connectors and that none of the connectors is damaged.

USB is one of those things that windows XP never seems to manage very well, I think it's due to the technology being newer than the operating system.

Ok thanks Burb, I'll get Tech Support onto it over the weekend. It's probably full of cat hair.
