LCD monitor for PC

Post by Jedi » 18th Feb, '08, 11:04

In the midst of building a new desktop PC. Have got everything sorted on the PC front, but so far have not been able to find a decent LCD monitor. I need something good for photo editing, so this rules out the majority of low end monitors. Have looked at the Samsung range, but there's a lot of reported issues with their monitors. The Dell Ultrasharp are supposed to be good, but they've stopped making the 22" model since a new line is coming soon (no date released). I'm even considering apple's 22" LCD... but the colour scheme is all wrong (and there's the issue of that apple logo on it). Eizo are just to expensive.

Any suggestions?

The Apple one can't be calibrated to suit you? How do all those graphic types who use Macs cope?

You can put a post-it over the logo or just not tell anyone

Not sure of your budget but have you take a look at ViewSonic? It has LCD Monitor, LCD TV and LED LCD which I feel that the resolutions are pretty good.
Every flower that ever bloomed, had to go through a whole lot of dirt to get there!

Done a bit more research on this and basically for photography, the only real options are expensive ones.
Viewsonic don't have much in the running currently. Have already checked them.

What I need is an IPS panel and there's not many of them available. :(
TN panels, which are the majority of LCD monitors available, are not very good for photography.

Black is secondary requirement...

Here is a potential candidate:

It has IPS matrix, so perfect for photography.
And it's black!
