Need help with Photoshop

Post by diana » 3rd Nov, '08, 20:45

I am currently taking some photos for my new jewellery line. How do I remove the background to achieve an image like this??

be best to take the pic on a white cloth ,and take the picture at an angle, you are taking the shot from too high. Get a three ring binder, some white. light grey fabric, and take a low angle shot, not from above

like ths woman is doing Image

this makes cutting it out from the background easier and it gives a more dynamic angle to the jewellery.

If you want to cut out that image, set your magic tool tolerance around 30px and select the background and just cut it out, then take a small brush eraser and fine tune the edges, until clean

Those images that you posted haven't had the background removed, they were just shot under controlled lighting and pure white background (big sheet of white paper would do).

Your image is out of focus and over exposed. You need to use a tripod, increase depth of field and a half decent flash setup (or even natural light and longer exposure) for taking photos like that.

Thanks Canuck, that was a good tip. I will try that.. [smilie=kiss.gif] I cant see the attachement, in your message.

Jedi, thanks for the useful comments too. I am going to get Litchy to help me with this over the weekend. I will post the new photos for both of you to see.
