StarHub's definition of "Free"

Post by baloo » 7th Apr, '09, 16:31

Not sure how they can claim the wireless Broadband is free looking at this ad.

$88.68 without "free" mobile broadband, or $124.12 with "free" mobile broadband.

The Free really means no data charges. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but the first set of prices are promotional based on you signing up a 24 month contract while the second set is contract free.

Not really. When they first launched Maxonline Plus they were the same prices. The wireless broadband bit was Free, as in cost. Now they've changed the pricing so standard Maxonline gets you a discount, so in effect it's not longer free.

Both plans are for a 24months contract. I tried upgrading to Plus when it was launched but because I was under contract I couldn't. Now that I am about to go out of contract they are calling me every week to try and get me to sign up for another 2 years.

Check if you can get on a Corporate price scheme (even though you pay yourself). I think I get another $5-10 off mine. Not sure of mobile plan offers.

Must say, I'd be pissed off as a non-wireless user to find out wireless plus wired was the same cost as wired.

I'm also out of contract (for cable TV as well). Have they got any good giveaways at the moment for new signings? Laptops? TVs?

We had been contractless for ages but Mr PP wanted hubstation before it was available to rent...so we signed up again. Dammit. We now have a contract that goes til 2010 and I have to cancel it. Just a few hundred $$$ in penalties and a useless hubstation. Wish I had never done it.
No one wants to take over a contract for broadband and cable do they? Or a hubstation?

I'm sure you can give the hubstation away for free...... ;)

(Already have one myself otherwise I'd be making offers!)

PP, If you have a friendly landlord you could always see if you can do a deal with the next tenant.

We were stuck in our broadband contract (similar thing, signed up for longer to get a free laptop) and continuing to pay it each month until we got an email from the new tenant saying she couldn't get a contract because there already was one at the house. With a bit of to-ing and fro-ing we managed to sign ours over to her.

Wish I could, I have no idea what is happening with the place, company lease and they haven't done anything about getting new tenants as yet.

Hubstation...gladly give it anyone who wants it...seriously.
