i had a look last week, it's so bloody big!

it's like walking around with a signboard to your ear...

not sure that is what i want in a phone.

As soon as my current contract reaches a point where it makes sense to break it, I'll be jumping onto the S3.

My Galaxy Note is huge, but I still love it. If I made a lot of calls, maybe not so, and I'd probably get a headset.

I notice that all the Samsung phones have sort of a greenish tinge when the display is active. It's especially obvious when you compare it side by side with phones of any other brand. Do you Samsung owners notice this?

Nope. But rarely do I put it side-by-side any other phone. Way above, yes;)

I haven't noticed it, but I'll look out for it and let you know if I can see it compared to Mr C's HTC.

And Morro, yes, it is larger, but it's also noticeably thinner, so it doesn't feel bulky to me compared to my old 3GS. Just a different shape. No issues yet, other than that I've spent so many years on iphones and macs that the switch isn't as intuitive as I'd like. Also, I have a horrible feeling that I'm finding the jump forward in technology a bit sudden for my creaky old brain.

Greenish tinge? Nope, not noticed it. Love my S2. Is the S3 bigger then? I know the Note is huge, but I thought the S3 was similar in size to S2.

Can the Note be used as a phone? If so, that must be the one I've seen people with a couple of times -- just looks HUGE for a phone! Couldn't imagine actually using it for one given it's the size of a Kindle. No way you're getting that in your pocket, plus it would cover the entire side of your head talking on it

Sign of the times (and the fact that I need another coffee) I just thought of taking a photo of them side by side, but I can't, because the phone is my camera.

The S3 is glorious. I never think of it as huge, just all other phones as puny.

I mean the Galaxy Note, not the S3  Am I right that the Note looks like a small iPad but that it is also a phone or am I seeing something else?

Only if you're a Judge in a patent dispute case. The Note looks like a small Galaxy Tab tablet ;)

Right

So, can it be used as a (BIG) phone?

I know what you meant. Seriously, the Note is not that much bigger than an S3. It's nowhere near the size of an ipad or even a Kindle. It's a phone.

I googled the relative dimensions earlier but didn't get round to posting, too busy reading about narconon :)

Oh here you go, it's about as tall as my passport but not as wide.

OK, I'm seeing something else then. Whatever it is, it just looks way too big to use as a phone.

That's what Neo has now. He compared his iPhone to my Note and decided it was time to get over his addiction.

i think the drawback on the One X is the fixed battery...

I'm so tempted by the XL model, simply for the 4G speed. If only I don't have to get a Singtel line for it... :(

Singtel apparently also thinks the fixed battery sucks, so they're throwing in a wireless charger with online purchase.

We use a secure third-party program for email: Nitro Desktop I think. Means your email is locked by password but everything else is just with a simple PIN or swipe lock.

just learned from someone in the Netherlands that apparently there the S3 is shipped with WiFi in powersaving mode. this means it switches off after 2 minutes (and automagically returns to 4G, which is expensive, obviously).
