yet it is another OS for tablets.

i like the look and the idea that it will be fully compatible with my computer. i use an iPad at work and there are always some compatibility issues.

the name sucks, though. "Surface", seriously?

If you want to look at it that way, but the point with windows 8 is that it has a consistent look and feel regardless of hardware, be it phone, desktop or tablet.

Finally got around to reading the article.

I was concerned by this sentence: "It added that the Intel-based versions would be offered with either 64GB or 128GB of storage and would have price tags comparable to ultrabook laptops."

Comparable to ultrabook laptops? So 50% more than an iPad?

The Intel chip version running Windows 8, yeah.

The ARM based chipset, running Windows RT, will be price comparative with the current Tablets/Pads.

Surface Pro - Intel, slightly thicker, full windows
Surface - ARM, thinner, WIndows RT

Consistent look and feel.. Sounds good as long the tablet versions don't look and feel like any previous versions of Windows. Looks nice though.

Is this spec sheet enough for me? Hmmmm......

MS Surface Spec Sheet

Must say, the ideas behind this seem to be what I want in a table. Is it a laptop replacement? Considering I have a computer that hooks up to my TV, that can do all the hard work, my laptop is used for a small bit of photoshop work, a small bit of MS Office work and then web surfing and email checking. An MS tablet running Win 8 should do that - I doubt an iPad or Android tablet brings that too me.

May have to replace the pc under my TV so every is running Win8 though!:D

[smilie=rotflmao.gif] Gotta feel for him. I bought Android and then switched to iPad, simply because of all the entertainment I can download from iTunes. Until Microsoft can offer the millions of downloadable entertainment options that iTunes does, I'll have to stick with iPad. Ideally though, I would like to be all Windows so that everything syncs with my desktop PC seamlessly.
