US vs England

Post by skank-la » 11th Jun, '10, 00:06

Sat in opener for our Group of 4

Any bets over there in SG. Pls remember US won this match 1-0 last time we met exactly 60 years ago. so your boys are looking for payback.

Looking at the US Squad roster more than 2/3 of the squad now plays professional ball in the UK or European Leagues & the rest play in US MLS. Quite a change from the 'amateurs' of old, we now have a generation that grew up playing football in the US

However it goes I predict England & US should mover forward to group of 16.

Ah, good cast there skanky! I'll do the biting:

With a 7-2 win record to England, this match is going one way only. England were one of the first European teams to qualify by winning all but one game in the pool. The run in to the WC hasn't been fantastic, but the sign of a good team is to win even when playing bad: England have done that as they have been down to both Egypt and Japan over the last few weeks.

Fat Bob's prediction is 3-1.

Unlikely I'll be awake to watch it: NZ play Ireland and Australia play England at rugby on saturday afternoon (3:30 and 6pm respectively). As I'm heading down to BB's to watch the games, I'm unlikely to be coherent at 3am to watch this game.

Singapore boys and girls: pizza hut have deliveries until 3am on match days!

And I've started a pool up on Superbru for a tipping comp. Who's in for it?

Website: http://www.superbru.com/worldcup
Pool code: kinddhow
Pool name: Singaporum

I may have to confirm you, if I do then I promise to do it at 6:30pm tonight.

England should win easily, but given their historically astonishishing ability to f***up royally and make life difficult for themselves.. Who knows . Can't say I'll be watching either

USA have as much chance against England as Australia have against Germany.

Actually, USA even have less chance than that.

Australia can beat Germany. Germany usually only gets real dangerous further in the tournament.

No chance. They'll be knocked out in the Quarter Finals on penalties

As long as the bet is to get further in the comp than Honduras then you have a slight chance of winning.

The minute I saw Heskey and Crouch on the team sheet I realised just how average the England team is.

If 'soccer' is a 2nd tier sport here you certainly couldnt tell it by the 100's of screaming maniacs at the pub where I watched the match.

Score seems about right. England certainly didnt dominate on the pitch, as matter of fact Rooney got shut down completely. US had more close shots than the Brits

I've watched US players play both AC Milan & Barcelona live from the stands over this past year. The level of play here is appoaching global standards as I hope you'll all see in this World Cup.
