Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
I've known lots of people with less than 18 days. In my previous company admin staff started on 12 days
Re: Holiday Entitlement Question

Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
Mine was 14days in last company - don't accept that whatever!

Thanks for the quick responses. I just wanted to check as I am hiring today and feeling generous... (well clearly as 7 days is frankly ridiculous).
Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
Thanks - clearly I am very tired.. was just typing Singapore paid holiday entitlement, entirely forgetting about MOM even though I seem to have spent an inordinate amount of time there this week....

I've done seen her, wine glass in hand, back into it welcome home JJ x
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
Legal standards and actual holiday entitlement differ a lot. And I believe only those on a low salary are covered by the Employment Act.
The "norm" is 10-15 days plus 1 day for every year of service to a maximum of 20-25. However, these numbers are changeable, I've had one company offer me 28 days and another 15 days.

Apparently, it depends on the year or service http://www.mom.gov.sg/employment-practi ... fault.aspx

No wonder the use of the MC is rampant around hereSatellite wrote:7days in first year of service for those earning bt 2K-4.5K/year
(And I thought the US was terrible with regard to paid holiday....)
Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
And now according to some new EU wonder directive, if you are sick while on holiday, you can claim a sick day and therefore get your leave back..

I remember in the early 80s a colleague doing that - went to Tenerife and broke her arm, so swapped her leave to sick.

Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
14-15 days a year is the norm, plus 14 days of paid sick leave, with a medical certificate. My current company adds an extra day per year of service, to a maximum of 22 days.
Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
Everyone at my company gets 15 to start, then 20 after 5 years (or in the 5th year?) of service. Plus one day birthday leave to be taken in the month of your birthday.
Aside from people below some low salary threshhold, I bet there is no set rules here. I mean, maids can be made to work 12 hours per day for weeks on end until the gracious new rule giving them one day off takes effect in 2013 or whenever.

Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
We get a birthday bonus: $25.
And a long term benefit of $150 for 5 years, rising a $1000 after 20-30 years.
Hmmmm......

Re: Holiday Entitlement Question
35.5 days annual leave this year in the Luxembourg financial sector covered by our Collective Bargaining Agreement, plus 13 days of Bank Holidays.
Almost makes up for the crappy weather!
AS for all this "set number of days paid sick leave with a medical certificate" rubbish...........I never understood that. If you're sick, you're sick. End. Of. In Lux an employee needs to provide a doctor's note only if they are absent for 3 days or more. If I have a heavy cold or a touch of gastro, I don't want to haul myself of my deathbed to go to the doctor's and have him write me a note for one day to say I have a heavy cold or a touch of gastro.......it just doesn't make sense to me.
In the case of serious illness the company will pay the employee for the first 90 days absence and then the state takes over coverage (full pay) for a period up to 18 months. If it's then decided that the employee cannot return to work (his/her position with the employer is protected til this stage) then the state disability pension kicks in.
Up the workers!
