Latest dive photos....

Post by Fat Bob » 22nd Nov, '11, 22:07

Just been to Bali, did a safari around the island with dives at Menjangan Island, Puri Jeta, Tulamben and Seraya.

Best dive was the early dive on the USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben, started with the wreck looming out of the morning twilight, carried on with bumb-head parrot fish, schooling jacks and finished with a pair of sharks trawling the reef for 5 mins and a black/blue blue-ribbon eel (but not a great photo). So much to see!

Photos are here, and I just love this silhouette of the wreck:

Oh, next trip planned in May to Malapascua. If you're interested, give me a shout. I reckon a trip to Palau needs to be done in August-October. Well, for one week amongst those months.

S95 in a canon housing. Use the standard underwater settings that can be set. Only issue is close up shots which i used flash for. The flash well over-exposed the photo in nearly every case. May try to use a light to improve lighting instead next time.

ou might want to adjust the flash power... reducing it works great. Sometimes the reduced flash causes one corner of the pic to be darker than other corners - I use my slate as a reflector to fix this. Takes a lot of practice though.

Here's an example of the result:

Wow! Lots to see!
A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

You think the S95 has a flash power setting? Will have a look but don't think so.

According to this it does:
http://www.dpreview.com/news/2010/8/19/ ... wershots95

Flash • Auto, Flash On, Flash Off, Slow Sync, Red-eye reduction
• Slow Sync Speed : Fastest speed 1/1600 sec
• +/- 2EV in 1/3 stop increments
• Face Detection FE compensation
• Safety FE
• Flash exposure lock
• Manual Power Adjustment
• Second Curtain Sync
• Range (Auto ISO):50cm - 6.5m (wide) / 2.5m (tele)

I have an old A640 that has adjustable flash power, yours is newer so it should have adjustable flash.
