Life of Pi
Stunning cinematography, brilliant acting, true to the book. Everything I expected and more. Highly recommended, so worth a Gold Class ticket.
Re: Life of Pi
I've been reading good things about this one & I liked the book -- thanks for the recommendation, Nev.
Re: Life of Pi
Read the first 10 pages of the book when it first came out. Got bored. Stopped. The cinema trailer doesn't make me regret my decision

Same, although I think I may have made it to 15 pages before giving up

Re: Life of Pi
yeah I remember picking it up, then putting it down... Maybe the movie is worth it though, shorter and you find out what the book is about minus any visual descriptions?

I also picked it up and put it down, not sure how many pages into it, though. I just got sidetracked by life and didn't feel like it was compelling enough to draw me back into it. Maybe I'll feel differently after watching the movie.
A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

Re: Life of Pi
I can't say that any of the trailers I have seen for it make me want to go and see it. I too gave up on the book. Seems to be a bit of a theme here.

Seem to remember when I read Life of Pi it started out slow, but It is the ending that makes the book, and not because one was thankful it was finally over
Still dubious about the movie

I like the tiger in the TV ads. But more importantly....
will there be a second part and will it be called Pipi?

I remember reading it and thinking it was a bit cracked out, can't remember much else. Says more about my memory for books and movies than the book itself though.
Might give the movie a shot, I like off-the-wall.

Got free tickets and so went along to see this today. I have to admit that it was way way better than I imagined from the trailers (I should have known) and I can see why it is nominated for so many Oscars. It was a really well done film. Just the images alone were worth watching. Everything Nev said in the first post...I eat my words now.
