Well, we had one on Indian and there was a whole heap of stuff there, I thought it would be a good idea to start one on chinese food.
Went to Crystal Jade in Holland V. Out of the two there, I went to the one on the main road (where KFC used to be). Supposedly they serve szechaun cuisine and one the one behind is more catonese style. Had a very good meal, bowl of beef noodles, big deep fried pork rib and some steamed dumplings (supposedly the soup has to be tasty when you bite into the dumpling). Very good.
Where else is good? And where can I get crispy fried duck (and no, it's not peking duck!)

Not sure if that fits but I'd like to know where to find a horribly-unauthentic Chinese takeout resturant of the likes one could find in the UK or US.
You know, with those UK-ized General's Chicken / Orange Beef / Sesame Beef / Chicken & Broccoli-type place of what everyone says is not authentic stuff but dammit I like it just the same.

Sardonicus, I think what you're looking for is zhe cha. Usually a coffeeshop. Full menu with seafood dishes, beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, then rice/noodle dishes. You won't find no Tsao Tsao Chicken, but you will find dishes like sweet and sour, chicken with chili and cashew, fried rice, black pepper beef. If you have a good zhe cha where you live, you're set.

Lorong 9 Beef Kway Teow place (corner of Geylang Road and - yes, you guessed it) does the best sweet and sour pork. Unsurprisingly, the Beef Kway Teow is rather marvellous too.

FB: aromatic crispy duck (as you'd find in the UK) can be found at Royal China (but of course - who'd have thought S'pore needs a branch of a UK chinese restaurant chain!) at the Raffles Hotel.
they also do a good deep-fried duck at Singapura restaurant on Selegie Rd - try their cold crab too, it's v good. Singapura doesn't give you the crepes to wrap the duck with though, you just pick the meat and eat it straight off the bone.

Sardonicus: Seletar Hills Restaurant in the Yio Chu Kang area serves v good General Tso's chicken. the owners used to run a Chinese Restaurant in NYC.
