Valentino's
Finally went last night, and, to be frank, not sure what all the fuss was about.
Good starters, adequate, if somewhat workmanlike, mains and decidedly poor puddings.
The service was 2 or 3 notches better than your average and the wine list was OK but nothing to write home about.
Why it's so difficult to get a table, I'll never know. But at least there'll be one less person ringing to book now.
4/10...

Hi Dosalfin - I think there is a wine list. At least I ordered from one when I was there. Did you say the "secret password". If you don't they don't give it to you alas.Dosalfin wrote:How can you rate the wine list when there isn't one?

"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

Either I'm psychic, or there was one. Which do you think is more likely?Dosalfin wrote:How can you rate the wine list when there isn't one?

Possibly I was unlucky A, you may be right. Went to Forketta's at Dempsey last night. Food was OK, but I forgot about the $1 for tap water, so I took the amount off the service charge.

Restaurants that charge for tap water. Bah. Maybe they should charge for bathroom usage...

Re: Valentino's
I threw a big tanty there one night - bloody $85 we paid for a bottle of wine but they wouldn't even give us tap water - we had "still or sparkling". I got up the waitress saying it's ridculous blah blah and she just smiled and did and said nothing. I then realised that they are paid $4 an hour and probably cop that from every table. We should definitely have a name and shame for places that don't allow or make you pay for tap water. Mama Lucia's is the other one - I'd eat razor blades before I'd go there again.BFG wrote:Possibly I was unlucky A, you may be right. Went to Forketta's at Dempsey last night. La Forketta food is ok - the other think they do however, is put the bread basket on the table and charge you $5 if you take anything from it. So I ask to have it taken away straight away. Grrrrr....
Anyways back to Valentinos - I thought they were pretty good but I had pizza as well. I like the ambience there.

The thought had crossed my mind but surely defending themselves by saying they don't have a wine list is a bit of an own goal.
Audiohouse. Now you've done it. Bet they google themselves.

I think you've got that wrong. The conversation would go like this:Fat Bob wrote:And you wonder why men have commitment issues with you? that would just freak me out!kittykat wrote:I'd eat razor blades before I'd go there again.

Re: Valentino's
Oi.. you are mean!! What I'm saying is I won't pay for water after I've spent $100 on wine. Some guy wants to spend that on me who cares - fine he wants to waste his money on bottled water - go for it. Each time I've had confrontations at Forketta or Mama Lucia's I've been paying for dinner. So sure ask me out and buy bottled water be my guest.... Expect me to pay for it after I've spent more on wine than on food - get lost...

So it's not a principle thing - it just depends on who is paying.

Note to self - don't post after a Forum dinner! I wouldn't really eat razor blades - that would hurt too much.
