OMG. Just looking at the branches hanging off my trees, I don't envy you going on a boat this weather, but I would love see the whales.
Thanks for that link.

Re: The Whales Are Back...
hmmm looks like outings have been off for the last couple of days. grump.
K- its the best boat (Bass&Flinders) that goes out - its a research boat, so a)they follow ALL the respective guidelines on how to best view the whales, as in keeping a distance away and not to stress them out. and b) part of the $$ goes towards their research and c) there are the spods on board so you can ask them all sorts of things and get a non-tourist scripted answer.
Absolutely fab afternoon (12 til 5) but does get cold even in good weather. The other place to view (from a distance) is at the north or south heads (followed by fish-n-chips at Doyles on Watsons )
And btw, that company also does the best helicopter over sidders thingy which is also fab, even tho its fecking scary.

Re: The Whales Are Back...
I get terribly seasick but I really would love to do it. Also the helicopter thing - we wanted to do it the first time we came to Sydney but there was so much else to do and arrange. Thankfully, I'm fine in helicopters.
We're not really at the enjoying Sydney stage yet - the weather is really not helping walking round the water's edge reminds us we're here but we do need to arrange some seriously fun things to do as it's a long time 'til I'm going to be watching the sun go down with my sunnies on and a glass in my hand at the Opera Bar.
We had our wedding lunch at Doyles
edit: BOM site suggests storms will ease up, so fingers crossed for you.
