Sydney rental squeeze

It's becoming more of a lottery than ever, some friends of mine are moving into temporary accommodation as their lease is up and they just can't find anything suitable in their price range. Or that hasn't another 10 applications in for the same property anyway.

Same world over. Different reasons in different places, but so many places the rent is going up and the property available is going down. Ask Fresh Mint, he's having to move to the Heartlands!

I was ready to face this head on when I accepted the Melbas role. Luckily my girlfriend was renting a house for $365/week while hers was being built next door. She told me she was moving out on the 28th June and I told her I'll take over which was a bonus. I've only got a 6mth lease but am really going to try to buy something when my lease is up. Unlike past properties I've bought, I'm going to buy it to eventually rent out - as opposed to buying on pure emotion and aesthetics. So my criteria will be very interesting when I look to purchase.

That will be fun KK!!! The interest on my mortgage in NZ is going up and rents are going higher. However I have had the same tenants in my house for 10 years now and I do give them a good deal - about $150 a week cheaper than I could get but the house is in perfect condition, the cats lived to an old age loved like anything and no one thinks of it as a rental so it is worth it to me. But I have to put the rent up shortly to cover increased mortgage and rates and tax costs - that I am OK with doing.

Am facing the rental market end of this year SOB, am hoping that the market might have softened a bit, it seems like it might.

Daff I dont envy you looking at all darlink. Come home to us!!! you can come live wiv us :D
