Queensland Flood

Post by baloo » 6th Jan, '11, 09:42

It seems a bit wet up there in QLD. I'm now hearing it's all because of solar flares.

The damage is extensive. Just about a year ago, Australia as a whole was experiencing one of the worst droughts recorded in their history. What is happening now in North Queensland, and is probably affecting pockets of areas near Brisbane city itself is shocking. It was reported that 2010 has seen one of the decade's highest record of natural disasters. Unfortunately, this land of the free has not been spared.

You can add losing the Ashes 3-1 at home to that list of disasters.

And add losing 3 of those games by an innings to that list of disasters.

Flood: yup, severe weather differences are happening. Wait til the Climate Control brigade get photos of this. "Hey, it's not just 3rd world countries* that get climate change effect, but look at this!"

* - deffinition of 3rd World Country is ambiguous here.

Let's hope the reserviors can take some of that water and keep it, rather than letting it all spill into the sea.

Yep, he's a banana bender. As is kittykat, then there's Rudi, and of course Burb.

Joking aside, it's pretty dismal up there at the moment. Rockhampton in particular - see photos on here http://www.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/Home

Rain Rain Rain F*ck me OMFG! Today I thought is was back in singapore but the rain just didn't stop! If it wasn't for that huge dam they build 20 years ago up the brisbane river we'd be like the people of rocky and either camped at the YMCA or sitting on our porches with a big stick watching the dead animals float by and at the ready to swipe the native australian looters.

Onto the important stuff. Human caused global warming is nonsense. There is not CIA stuff. There is increased solar activity.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/ ... Earth.html

He's my theory: The solar activity is not enough to melt the ice caps but is enough to heat the oceans to increase water vapour in the air and as the air is pushes to the north pole it cools and you get bad snow or if is pushed into the great dividing range on the queensland coast it is pushed up and comes down in buckets of droplets.

What about the dead birds falling from the sky all over the place? I bet that's caused by solar flares too

Well its more reliable then the MET as reported by the torygraph!
[28 Oct 2010]But the official forecasters have said that this winter could be unusually mild and dry, with temperatures at least 2C more than last year’s big freeze in which snow and ice caused travel chaos across much of Britain. Although the Met Office no longer issues long-term forecasts, their latest data suggest a high probability of a warmer winter for London, the East of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

As for the birds and the fish dying? No idea, No even a theory. ;) but saying they died due to the cold it a little tough.

birds apparently died of massive blunt impact trauma, which is odd. unless there are hundreds of aggressive little sprites with baseball bats up there, it would seem they literally flew into the ground.

Build more dams to stop floods/droughts

Post by Mr Oz » 8th Jan, '11, 11:48

Well the greenies are pouring scorn on Abbott for suggesting they build big dams to catch this water and stop the flooding and provide water in drought times.

Well I can tell you if it was not for Joh Beokie (premier) back in the 70s after the 74 brisbane floods to build the huge wivenhoe dam up the brisbane river, this city of 1 Million+ people would of run out of water 3 years ago during the drought and right now would be like rockhampton, bundaberg (and soon Marybourgh) at least 2 metres underwater. God bless Joh!

BTW it's still raining, not expecting sunshine until next wednesday. I am starting to getting a little nervous as the dam's 100% capacity is 60% of actual (40% for flood prevention) and they have stopped reporting the actual dam level when it reached 135% a week or so ago.

Saw this today...
FLOOD WARNING FOR THE BRISBANE RIVER ABOVE WIVENHOE DAM
Issued at 8:53 AM on Saturday the 8th of January 2011
by the Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane
http://www.weatherzone.com.au/warning.jsp?id=IDQ20800

oh no!flooding above the dam! OMG it's nearly full!

Abbott's call for more damns makes a lot of sense but will be attacked massively by the greens. It would be good to see Victoria get another one as well even though they also have the desalination plant. Does this mean you can change your shower heads back to high pressure? :D

Nope we are still on water restrictions. Can you believe that? Anyway during the last dought we halved our water usage so the government more than doubled the water price and added flouride... Arseholes...

fluoride is essential actually. Queensland does not have the worst dental quality in most of the western world for nothing.
