Scopolamine patch for motion sickness
I'm cursed with motion sickness, I've tried so many cures but only scopolamine patches work. It's only available in US (prescription only), UK, NZ, and Australia. My sister usually sends me the patches from the US, but it's very expensive, about USD30 per patch. Does anyone in Australia know if the patch is still available over the counter? If it is, how much does it cost? I tried googling it but I couldn't find anything useful.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Scopolamine patch for motion sickness
Try searching www.pharmacydirect.com.au or even dropping them a note. I always got very fast response from them. They provide OTC and Prescription meds so they'd know.

Thanks baloo. The search came up with nothing, but I've dropped them an email.

It seems to be available online from NZ, but how do I know if the website is legit? Is there any way to check?

Pharmacydirect replied, saying that they don't carry the patch.
BUT, a mate in NZ came through and sent some to me during his lunchtime today! Yay!
Thanks all for your help!

Re: Scopolamine patch for motion sickness
Just asked in our local pharmacy and only available by injection, not patches. They checked on the computer, so I'm not sure if that applies to all pharmacies in Australia or just that chain.
Re: Scopolamine patch for motion sickness
Thanks for checking SM. It's strange that nobody seems to know if the patch is available at all in Australia. I can't find any information online.

Response: Couldn't find in the Aus System. Drug is also called hyoscine which is buscopan. Basically the tablets are the only thing here that might be available for her. If you wikipedia it, you will see that buscopan is the scientific name for scopolamine."
So sounds like they may be tricky to find in Australia as well, presume you prefer the patches for a slow release low dose sort of thing compared to the tablet form? So done well to get them cheaper in NZ from that friend

Tough call there Tassie, the scientific name is "(–)-(S)-3-hydroxy-2-phenylpropionic acid(1R,2R,4S,7S,9S)-9-methyl-3-oxa-9-azatricyclo[3.3.1.02,4]non-7-yl ester"

Yup a tablet only works for 6 hours, but a patch lasts me 72 hours.Tas wrote:Response: Couldn't find in the Aus System. Drug is also called hyoscine which is buscopan.
