Me again

Post by chocolate » 5th Apr, '12, 08:24

Ok this is now starting to really make me mad...

Word / Excel / PPT whatever keeps opening the 8 / 10 / 100 whatever documents that I've previously been working on despite me telling them repeatedly in my preferences settings to not do it.
What am I missing ?? (insert smart comment from baloo/HOD/Fat Bob)

It bugs me more because at work i'm on a work server and when I'm home I'm not and it can't find the documents and has a hissy fit!

Any USEFUL suggestions welcome :)

I find the only time it re-opens something I've been working on previously is if I didn't actually close the document/spreadsheet/PPT before I shut down the program and computer the day before.

I've seen this. Only solution was to sell the Mac and buy a Windows PC.

when you close the application, do you click the little red button on the upper left, or do you File>Quit or command-q ? Unlike a windows machine, clicking the red button doesn't quit the application, it just closes the window. The application remains running, so, perhaps the next time you click on the dock, it just reopens all your windows?

you could trying vpn'ing into your work server, or you could save copies locally, or you could use a cloud service like dropbox. if you are really concerned about security, there is something called safebox which encrypts your files on dropbox while preserving the dropbox versioning system. The encryption engine in safebox is supposedly open-source and safe.

I'll give it a whirl!

Thanks
