Cost of Iron Electrodes

Post by Tas » 4th Mar, '08, 10:21

Crying out loud I feel thick.

Am trying to work out a representative cost/kg of Fe in the form of replacement electrodes for some modelling on piece of equipment. Have done all the googling stuff but can't make head nor tale of what I should be looking at. There's pig iron, iron ore prices input energy prices blah blah, but pretty sure I want something that represents processed/formed iron, and I know there's probably a couple proper websites I should look at but can't work out how to filter out the shyte.

HOD known as BOD or someone like you - can you point me in the right direction??

guess this is serious form boring category but thought that was more for philosophising.......

I've just read out to husband and (this may or may not be useful to you) he says:
Once you 've worked out your volume and SG requirements, check out Tubemakers' or Onesteel's website, which may give you a basic "mild steel" price. He estimates it at roughly AUD$2000 per tonne.

ETA: Bluescope is the other company - it seems Tubemakers and Onesteel are one and the same now.
