According to Kearnsie, last week it was 35 degrees in Canberra, and this week it's below 10. Can't remember who I tipped in this game!

Just joined a Holi party down at the East Coast Park. Lots of people chucking powdered paint and water over each other, complete with beer and dancing. What's not to love?

Apparently it's over three days. Confess I don't know much about it.

Clothes wrecked though, and babies will be pink for days...

Happy easter sunday everyone. We're off to a picnic with the extended family, who insist on a picnic (even though it's cold and damp) for the precious kiddies who want to frolic at the park. There are a few of us who are not looking forward to this!

"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

It's hard work, this location-hunting lark. I'd forgotten how hilly the place is :o

Yes, if she was in Oz and in Surrey Hills she would be in Melbourne! :D

The two cities share a lot of place names don't they? V confusing.

I'm currently in love with Balmain but Surry Hills (see, I can spell it) is on tomorrow's agenda. There's a penthouse we really like the look of but we need to see just how high it is - not obvious from the photos although it does appear quite low and cat-friendly (and there is a rare "pets allowed" in the ad :o ). Other than that we are mainly looking at little old terraced houses, which will come as no surprise to most of you.

Of course if we find a totally suitable property we then have the dilemma, should we sign on the spot and pay for it to be empty for two months? Or one month and rent some furniture? Moving continents with furniture and dependents is very complicated, isn't it?

In that area if you don't keep an eye on it when you arrive to move in you'll find it taken over by squatters armed with reams of legal precedents giving them the right of abode.

Balmain is nice - I love the terrace houses too. I contemplated in getting a terrace house before I bought my house but they're just too friggin' expensive!

Kook, the rental market is still pretty tight here in AUS so you may lose the house if you don't secure it. That was what I did back in January 2003 - I came over here to attend F&C's wedding in Queensland and made a detour to Adelaide. I then secured a townhouse to rent in Black Forest, SA and then went back to SGP to tie any loose ends, before moving down here in February 03.

For some reason all this take of things Australian gives me a thirst for a Hahn Premium. Good luck with the search Kooky...

I used to live in Balmain. One house was on the water and we could see the bridge from the lounge room and could lay on the dock. The other was one street back from the main street and it was a 50m walk up the hill to the monkey bar and a 50m roll down the hill home. Great live bands in Balmain as well, plus a hunky water polo team!

Isn't Hahn Premium a kiwi brew?

Good luck Kooky with the search. I guess as has already been touched on - think of the commute route for Mr Neo as it can get quite tireseome in Syds.
