Doesn't Muxs live in the Tiong Bahru area? You might want to check with him.
Life is comprised of infinite possibilities; some known, others a mystery and destined to remain so. And what of the vast unknown, the realms beyond which knowledge has no established boundaries or parameters? Who is to say what exists or what is possible?

No, it was Telok Blangah. I go to that area once a week for TCM in a neighbourhood clinic. I must say, it has a very nice vibe.

Yes, agree. But is the wrong side of town for where I think I might be working. No MRT in that area.

A woman walked into a pub and asked the barman for a double entendre. So he gave it to her.

Thanks Lili, I know Wessex quite well. the waiting list is closed. Plus it's Premas again, whose latest little game is to make people bid for their properties. Barstewards

HDBs

I am a Telok Blangah Estate resident. I moved from Telok Blangah Crescent to Telok Blangah Heights and been living here since I was a kid.

It doesn't has a MRT now but I believe the Telok Blangah MRT will be ready by year 2010 or so. As FB said, Harbourfront MRT is one that is near and depending on which Telok Blangah Estate you chose to live, the other 2 MRT at close proximity are Redhill and Tiong Bahru. From Telok Blangah to go to Shenton Way, Orchard Road, it doesn't take more than 30 mins by public transport anyway.

At the end of the day, it depends on which areas you are more comfortable with and if you already have some places in mind. I know some folks prefer to live on the East side of this island as rental is the main contributing factor to most people now.

Bummer. I don't evny you - I love the Seletar Base feel and don't know how you will adjust to life here without it once you're used to it!

SunshineAfterRain wrote:Azzam, Dover/Buena Vista is a good choice. I have a friend who lives in the Heritage View since last August and he is pretty happy with the vicinity. It is quiet by the night and the security is good. Lots of taxis just queueing outside the Condo every morning and it is about 5 mins walk to Rochester Park. It takes approximately 20 mins walk from Dover MRT to the Condo. There is a coffee shop just besides the condo and across the road, round the corner of the multi-storey carpark, there is a NTUC and some ATMs, these are just within 5 mins walk from the condo.

Queenstown,Redhill, Tiong Bahru, Telok Blangah, Holland, Henderson Road, these are places that you may want to include in your search. Some of them have nice parks and short distance to the shopping centre/wet market. Most of them are near to the MRT (~ 20-30 mins ride during peak hour) and easily accessible by public transport.
Given the above - why not just walk to Buona Vista MRT which is 5 minutes walk from Rochester Park?

None of my business, of course. Just curious... [smilie=mango.gif]

I've been here nine years, Lili, and only one of them has been at Seletar. Before that I was in Hooper Road, which was almost as nice.
I really don't want to do the private condo thing again. I find them soul-less places and wouldn't want to live in one I could afford! ( or want to afford ) So, it's walk ups or HDBs for a while, I think.
Still favouring Spottiswoode, just might have to wait for a while to get the right block. 106 overlooks the container port - that would be pretty cool.

There was a walk up at Tiong Bahru in the paper today. Two bedrooms, above a coffee shop, $2800. But I decided there aren't enough trees around in that area.

Thanks SAR - haven't got around to thinking about your area yet.

I'm not going to stress about it - it'll happen.

Azzam, like SAR I am a Telok Blangah Heights resident, in my case for the last 4 years. The first 2 years i spent in Harbourview Towers condo and the last couple in a 4-room HDB flat (3 bedrooms, a store room, smallish living room and quite large kitchen). I am very happy living here. Telok Blangah Hill is literally next door and Mount Faber is just across the road. Although it is a HDB estate, it doesn't feel too congested or high density. (That may change with 2 new 40-storey blocks and 1 new 20 -storey block being built in the estate in the next year or so...) Most of the flats in the estate have been recently upgraded with new bathrooms and, in some blocks, additional balconies. There is definitely a 'neighborhood feel' and I think you'll like the ambience if that is what you are looking for.

IMO, proximity to the MRT is not really an issue with a neighborhood this close to town. The buses along Telok Blangah Road are very frequent and can get you into Raffles Place in less than 30 minutes. I work in Tanjong Pagar myself and I can be in my office in 20 minutes, door-to-door. The 124 bus, which passes through the estate, will get you into Orchard Road in less than 30 minutes - on a good traffic day.

BTW, the HDB block I am in is quieter than the last condo I stayed in!

That sounds about right for me Addadude. Thanks, will look into it. Do you know anyone who can show me around, or do they just come up in the paper?
If the job in Mount Sophia doesn't come through, my main work areas are Tanjong Pagar and Pasir Panjang Road, so could be a good compromise.
