A Muslim question

Post by Aliya » 16th Mar, '08, 20:40

I went to the beach this morning and there were lots of Muslims.

I have 2 questions:

1.I noticed, and have more recently noticed, the amount of very young girls, I am talking 3 onwards being completed covered, head to toe with the headgear and long trousers etc. I thought the idea of covering up like that was for older women, I have been told by a friend who is Muslim that girls who are very religious would cover up after their first period. That makes sense, although this is not of course mentioned in the Koran, being a cultural rather than religious issue. My question is: Why are such young girls covering up? What is the reason behind it?

2. Why is the headgear made of hot synthetic material, it seems to me it would be much cooler to wear if it was cotton cotton/silk or something more breathable.
"I really love you" she said. "Is that the champagne talking" he asked. "No" she laughed. "That's me talking to the champagne"

1. Because the opression of women can begin at an early age.
2. Hot synthetic material is cheap and physical abuse is a useful contributor to the oppression of women.

He should learn that you shouldn't start a sentence with "because".

When you have a belief and you feel it is under threat you group together and stand stronger or it could be as simple as the girls wanting to dress like mummy. I often have to rescue my high heels, clothes, handbags and even occasionally my bras from the depths of Pos III’s room!!

Which only goes to prove that all you have to dois oppress one generation and all the rest will follow.

At least until they are teenagers.

I have really noticed more and more girls wearing the full gear, I understand the reason for "older women to wear this" but why little kids. What Burb says is absolutely correct and also I think Islam is under alot of pressure and like Judaism people do tend to hold firmer to their religion when under pressure but not sure what dressing these little kids like this actually achieves. If anything when i see a family with a child dressed like this I tend to think they are just pathetic.

Edit: See speech marks. Actually I agree with Poss wholeheartedly, the Koran never asks this of women, why should they have to follow a rule that isnt even in their own Book. Religion is weird.

Also I had a dream about Burb last night, he must have been on my mind after I posted this, for some reason we were with a whole lot of Samoans adrift in the sea and he told me we had to make a break for a small island he said he could see and persuaded me to get in a small canoe with him and paddle to the island where we found a secret Grand Prix was being raced. Hmmmm.

I don't understand the reason for it nor do I agree with it.

Poss - it's linked to religion. Ergo, there is no reason involved.
