No, I was out to lunch on all counts. You can all thank your lucky stars that I don't drive.

I didn't even count them, I was looking for the thing they wanted me to miss.

exactly my point

Edit: I did try it again though and did manage to look out for the bear....which reinforces the fact that it is too much work to drive and getting a chauffer is the way to go for me!

Yes, but random things getting in your way is what you should be watching for when you're driving, not counting basketball passes, or talking on the phone.

Because you have accepted Burbage into your life. :)

Burb, you can't say that you should only be looking for random things when driving. A light changing is hardly random, but nor is it a certainty. You have to concentrate on the risks you can anticipate too.

I can see it now: "Officer, I might be on the wrong side of the road, but you never know when you'll meet some stupid b***er doing the same in the other direction."

I correctly counted the number of passes thrown by the white team, the number thrown by the black team AND spotted the random thing -- but then I rid a motorbike in Singapore and it is all you &^*&^%$ useless car drivers that I gave to watch out for.

Where did I say it should tbe the only thing?

The point of the experiment is that if you are concentrating on something too hard (counting basketball passes, talking on the phone, listening to music, lighting a fag etc) then you'll miss the unexpected.
