So I have mold on the back of some of my picture frames and a beautiful wooden box. I keep wiping them down with a dry cloth but the mold keeps coming back. Any idea on how to get rid of it?

We had a chap who came in and re-framed and treated the pictures that we had that were getting mouldy.

No idea what he did or what his name was - I just signed the cheque...

Not much help, but at least you know it can be fixed I guess.

Are you talking about on the picture itself or the frames? If it's the frames, try some mild detergent, which should reduce the build up of growth, or even a mild bleach solution, though test first on a bit that isn't usually seen to see if it will mark the wood.

Blob I have teh same problem on the plywood back of my Ikea cabinet, it stinks the mould, just about knocked us out one morning, huge circles of mould that could wave at you, horrible. I washed it off with an antibacterial wash and then pure dettol, stunk but the mould doesnt seem to have come back, although the smell is still there, but very slightly. I took all the drawers out and got the sun onto the back as well. Never seen mould like it before.

Make a solution of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Use a sponge and this solution to wipe off the mold. Let it dry and repaet the next day. Let that dry and wash with water. Let that dry and give it a lick of mold resistant varnish.

I've found methylated spirits was the best so far in getting cleaning mold off various fabrics like leather and suitcase types of fabric, which I then sit in the sun for a couple hours - quite excellent as well that it dried off pretty quick to. But would be pretty careful to what I was wiping with metho! in which case would go the vinegar option now I've seen Burbs suggestion.

As for the ceiling (this is why my place in is the only joint in Sydney that hasn't had the rent put up for 3 years....)
I've discovered that hospital strength domestos or kingbleach directly onto a new mop sponge head does pretty
wicked job as well ... as for the paint job I don't give a monkeys as they've clearly painted over peeling paint and mold in the first place (lazy %c)#$%t )

Was that the 'c' word you were trying to use there Tas? Thought you chicks didn't like that word?

There are several mold spray available at cold storage, wouldn't suggest it for wood stuff, but for walls etc then it's great.
