Hotmail

Post by Spike » 4th Nov, '08, 13:13

Has anyone else had problems with Hotmail? Over the last 2-3 days Hotmail has been running really slow and today it's ground to a halt. Other websites are performing normally, leading me to believe it's a Hotmail problem rather than my wildly neurotic PC.

They changed my interface (apparently) and it was a tad iffy for a few days before that. I put it down to badly designed product. But what do I know?

No, but then I don't use hotmail. I do keep getting offers from Christian dating sites though.

One of my other ones has gone through a drastic front-page change, so reckon they are slowly updating the various accounts.

Which means I can't talk to my mates whilst I'm at work

Hmmm... maybe I've encountered the same process. It seems alright this evening.

It would appear that, in the last ten minutes, my Hotmail has been upgraded. Let's hope it's better than the previous sooperdooper new interface, which IME did nothing more than slow things down.

the one thing the new sooperdooper one did was allow automatic checking of mail, which the old version didn't. This was a bonus. However, on a slow connection then it really crunched to a halt and had endless drop-outs.

On my home pc (and I would at work if they let me) I've installed Windows Live Mail program, similar to Outlook Express but better and works well with Hotmail addresses as well as gmail and other pop3/imap accounts. The good thing is that it downloads the contacts from your default email account (if it's hotmail/messenger) and when you update in Windows Live Mail it also updates the Hotmail/Messenger address books as well. I recommend it (well, I think I have recommended it before, so I'll recommend it again!)
