Helf - How do I start a website?
Am starting up a new business and my partner and I need a website. I remember some info on the Old Board about how to do so here or who could do it. Can anyone remember or advise us?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hmmmm. We will buy the domain once we work out the business name but then need a web designer. Anyone know a good one that wont charge $$$$$$. My partner is quite IT savy and can update it but she doesnt know how to design it and we need at least 3 email addresses.

Web Synergies helped me set up my site about 3 years ago. Their prices are pretty reasonable and they work fast. http://websynergies.com.sg

Are youforgetting that some of us rescued the forum domain not once but twice? Would YOU trust him with your business?

Register domain, install (free) Joomla! CMS, then you can DIY.

I can't find the tongue-in-cheek emoticon. Not bloody surprising with the amount of shit in there. SM Admin, whilst MM Admin is away, can you crop out half of those in there?Kooky wrote:Are youforgetting that some of us rescued the forum domain not once but twice? Ian Grieves does web site design and uploading (or whatever the term is for sticking it on a server and publishing it live). He did DQ's site.

I am in the middle of doing one for someone else at the moment....
But the most difficult part of a website is layout and content. The engine to put that on the web is not that difficult (for the techies among us). The good thing about a CMS is ease of updating content, as opposed to modifying and re-publishing HTML. One of the (many) excellent things with Joomla is it's modular approach. If you want to add new features to your site, chances are that there's already a plugin available. No need to re-invent the wheel and build anything from scratch.
p.s. indeed we did have a lovely time shopping for the red Dell.

Perhaps if you're less naughty, and nicer to a certain large, amiable oversized person on the Sports Board a certain special person might bring you a new one in 37 wake-ups......Fat Bob wrote:I need a new computer. Re: Helf - How do I start a website?
slinky:
Yes, Jan is for january. no, not boxing this time, trying to lose a shed load of weight so I can run 10km in 58mins. Trying to run with current weight will just break something, so need to lose weight before I commence the running training.
And I think Santa lost my address many years ago. Probably because I don't have a chimney in Singapore.
However, the beer bear managed to find me in Singapore. He's great!
