Bali villas

Post by Fresh Mint » 26th Aug, '09, 12:41

Haven't seen a thread on it for ages, but does anyone have a personal recommendation for a Bali villa or even a Bali villa rental company?

Planning on going with the Zimbaboons at Christmas.

Our party is:

2 x Adults (my boet and sis-i-l)
1 x adult (Everybody's favourite uncle, Fresh Mint)
4 x children (all girls ages 4, 6, 8, 10)

Ideally, we are looking for a 4-bedroom self-contained villa with pool within walking distance of beach in Sanur/Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area of Bali. Could easily handle a 3 bedroom villa if daybed in the lounge/bale could be turned into a bed for Uncle Mint.

Budget: God, I remember the days when six adults would go and split a villa and the cost would be negligible. Put kids into the mix and suddenly you're divvying-up the total cost between very few people ....

Anyway, was optimistically hoping for something between $300 and $500 per day.

That looks nice, Tyke.

At first it looked as if it would be way over budget. You stayed there yourself?

yes stayed there 2 years ago ....it was fab . All food and booze is at cost . You choose a menu in the morning and they go out and buy the ingredients and cook it for you that night.

Really nice place with great facilites and lovely staff.

Its about 10 minutes in cab to Seminyak and 20+ minutes to Kuta ..so not walking distance to beach but very peaceful overlooking paddy fields.

Fresh Mint, not sure if you speak German, however I think you do?

Anyway, there's a German Rental Agency (Gittas Landhaeuser) that has a couple of houses in Bali - my parents have rented a number of little houses in Germany from them and it was always very nice! (according to them)

We are heading to Bali in December and during my searching I found this place but doesnt really meet your criteria as its in UBUD but a 4 bedroom with breakfast $200 a night for the entire villa will stretch thus ZIM $ giving you more cash to spend on otehr things

Villa Kubu. Lovely, out of the way but short walking distance to Seminyak.

I'll second Villa Kubu - been there a few times and it's one of my favourite places to stay in Bali. Lots of different size villas too.

I recommneded it to one of my colleagues recently and he was impressed - and bargained for a very good rate apparently.

Villa Kubu doesn't really look like a self-catered villa for parents and children ...

Yes it can be. They have various sizes of villas and even the 1-bedroom we had had a full kitchen.

On a morning a cook comes in with a load of food and makes you a full breakfast whilst a cleaner does the villa, a gardener does the garden, the poolman cleans the pool...and then you have the rest of the day to yourselves.

You can book somebody to come in and cook for you - on my birthday we had a humungous barbeque, I felt so guilty they went to so much trouble for two of us! - or alternatively you can order room service. Or at least it was that way a couple of years ago; the food arrives on a scooter from the villas next door. :)

Surely the cook does the cleaning, the pool man does the gardening......

Coconut Homes have a great selection of small villas, big villas and also a sort of compound of interconnecting 1 and 2 bedroom tiny villas in Seminyak. FAB. Uma Sapna is the name, been going there since they opened, never disappointed.

Hmmm....I thought Uma Sapna had gone more towards the one- and two-bedroom villaettes (if such a word exsists) ratehr than full on villa. I'd agree, very nice villas, but maybe not suitable for what the Mints need
